Hi I am Monica Fischli!
I was born in Brazil. A Friday, at 10:30 am to be more precise. I was born a Brazilian to a Swiss father and a Uruguayan mother. They raised me in the south of the globe, but my backyard was the world. I started college at the age of 16 to pursue what would become my passion, and ultimately the whole way I see the world. I graduated with a Master of Architecture degree at the age of 21. I continue to work in the profession I love, and chasing beautiful buildings and inspiring spaces is my favorite hobby. Sometimes I find them in different countries, in exciting cities, but sometimes they unfold in my own sketchbook from the tip of my pencil and the wanderings of my mind.
Photography developed naturally for me as a result of my love for the simple and often unnoticed small beauties of life. My passion for design, fine composition, and natural lighting acquired in architecture school easily find their way into my photos. More than anything, photography has taught me a whole new way to look at the world.
I seek to learn and grow every day from each project, each new challenge, each task that is presented before me. As a designer, I follow my bliss, I make myself vulnerable, I look for the unknown, the new, the unfamiliar. I take them in and become acquainted with that which I did not now.
Moshe Safdie put it beautifully when he said “He who seeks truth shall find beauty”.
I am a seeker of truth. When I seek truth, I find beauty. Let me show you what i see.
Monica
